Hi friends! It’s been a long time since I told you about my journey with film! Truth be told, I’m not shooting as much as I want but I have been trying to practice!
A few months ago I had the opportunity to visit a part of the Mexico coast that I hadn’t seen before. Just a few hours north of Sayulita, tucked away off any main roads- I mean really tucked away, sits Playa Las Tortugas. This incredible little community feels as though you’ve left the word behind. After driving down a dirt road thinking you’re lost forever you arrive to paradise. The small community of villas sits beach front and next to a fresh water estuary and turtle hatchery. Hence the name, Playa Las Tortugas, the turtle hatchery helps to preserve the local turtle nests and release the babies to sea in a protected environment.
I was fortunate enough to be asked to spend a few days in this paradise by my friend Ryan as he was there to film a promotional video for the community. Thanks to Playa Las Tortugas’s hospitality we stayed in a beautiful home right on the beach, enjoyed sunrise and sunset every day from our backyard, paddled in the estuary, rode horses on the beach, took a tour of a nearby river and wildlife habitat and even released baby turtles to the sea!
It was an amazing few days and I was able to capture some of it on film! Since I was in the company of two videographers and photographers I decided to only take my film camera and push myself to capture it from this medium and not digital. I’m so happy I did though as it pushed me to see life through this amazing lens!
Below are some of my captures from Playa Las Tortugas <3
