Georgetown & Breckenridge, Colorado
Alyssa and Travis got engaged in Guanella Pass this past summer! The couple are avid hikers and it was the perfect spot for Travis to pop the big question! When Alyssa reached out to me for their engagement session we knew we wanted to find a way to honor this special place. Unfortunately due to weather, Guanella Pass is closed in winter. We decided on Georgetown, the town just next to the Pass. A&T were thrilled to go to Georgetown Lake as the perfect spot for their Colorado Winter Engagement session!
Fast forward to the morning of our session and the weather had different plans! Georgetown was forecasted for 40 mph winds! On my drive to meet them the signs on the highway warned of 60mph wind gusts. To say the least, this wasn’t ideal weather! We made it out to the lake and then came the wind! It’s hard enough to stand on a frozen lake in the winter with out slipping, add wind to that and you’ve got an interesting combination!
Colorado Winter Engagement
After sticking out the crazy winds for a few photos on the lake we decided to head north to Breckenridge. I’m so thrilled that A&T got to celebrate one of their favorite places with our short stop at Georgetown. Luckily the weather in Breckenridge was much better and we were able to continue our session! We had so much playing in the snow with their pup and capturing their little family! We finished our session on Lake Dillon with an outfit change as the sunset neared. Alyssa braved the cold (and wind picking up) for a few gorgeous shots in her white dress. The couple is getting married back home, out of Colorado, so Alyssa wanted to take a few photos dressed up in the mountains! Despite the crazy weather we had a blast and I’m so glad these two had such a great Colorado Winter Engagement session!
