Colorado Engagement Session

All the winter vibes for this Vail Colorado Engagement Session! Morgan & Evan told me from the start that they wanted a winter engagement session in contrast to their summer wedding next year. Although they are planning a Colorado wedding in the summer of 2021, M&E live in Nashville while Evan finishes medical school. So we planned for winter and hoped for snow! The couple knew they would be home for the holidays to visit family and we hoped it would be the perfect snow season.

December rolled around and we were lucky enough to get a good amount of early snow! I suggested one of my favorite spots near Vail and the plan was set. Upon my arrival it started to snow! At first I was worried as the skies darkened but lucky for us the heavy snow didn’t last long. What we got in return was a fresh dusting on the trees and the perfect snow globe. This beautiful spot is one of my favorite reasons to suggest a Vail, Colorado winter Engagement Session!

Vail Winter Engagement

We started our session with M&E’s formal outfits. Even though it was in the 20s, Morgan was such a trooper in a skirt! We switched her to snow boots so I could have the couple go off trail but to all of ours surprise- the snow was knee deep! Evan to the rescue! The wonderful groom carried his bride across the snow so I could get my photo and grab a few others with the gorgeous mountain backdrop.

M&E changed into their casual outfit and the fun really began! It can be so much easier to move around in the snow in jeans! I love doing a casual look because it helps couples feel more like their natural selves. We popped a bottle of champagne to toast and set off to play in the snow! The light for this session was perfect and produced some of my all time favorite photos. It was so much fun to just let M&E be themselves and capture the magic. These two made it easy with how effortless they interact with each other. One of my favorite parts of an Engagement Session is that we can be casual, we can be playful, we can be so much more candid. Wedding days are often busy, slightly rushed and pressure filled. But Engagement Sessions are relaxed and fun and the playfulness of a couple can shine through. I’m so stoked I got to spend time with M&E before their big day this summer! I can’t wait to celebrate with them at Flying Horse Ranch here in Colorado this August!
